Known as one of the founders of the legendary music band Them Mushrooms with the global hit 'Hakuna Matata' John Katana is a pioneering Kenyan artist who’s received the Head of State Commendation award by former president Mwai Kibaki. With over 30 years of experience in show business and entertainment in Kenya, John is an accomplished instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger, performer, and music producer. Not only has he composed and produced music for Them Mushrooms but also other profound Kenyan and East African artists such as the late Angela Chibalonza, Mary Atieno, Esther Wahome, Kenge-Kenge (traditional music), late Mzee Fundi Konde, Princess Farida, late Shimelis Ararso (Ethiopia) among others. He also produces signature tunes, radio jingles, and commercials for FM/ TV stations and other corporate businesses. When he is not on tour, John conducts webinars and workshops titled The Business of Music that focus on copyright/ related rights, artiste branding, and publishing under the flagship of Showbiz Info Ltd.
